Question:
Is there a way to use an sd card on the Wii like a Gamecube memory card?

On the gamecube you could use additional memory cards to save more games. For example: if a game only had 3 save files, I could put in another memory card to play on 3 more files. Is there a way to do this on the Wii?

It's possible for SOME games (but not all) as some Wii games copy-protect their save-game data.

For games that aren't copy-protected, you can do this... but it requires you to juggle around 2 SD cards as you have to copy the gamesave data from your Wii's internal memory to & from the SD cards.

To change gamesave data, you would have to do the following:

1) MOVE data from Wii to SD card A

2) Swap SD cards (from A to B)

3) MOVE data from SD Card B to Wii

The Wii will only access savegame data from internal storage ONLY, so you move the gamesave data to & from the Wii's internal storage each time.

If you cannot utilize move, you can just copy & then delete (which is essentially a move).

Hope this helps!

Master 48 is wrong...

So what you need is an SD card. And let's use Wii "a" and Wii "b" again. When you first play a GameCube game on the Wii, it saves to Wii "a." Then, you go to the wii options for save data, and you can copy then delete the memory onto the SD card. You insert that SD card into Wii "b" and you go to the save data options again. You copy the memory of the game onto Wii "b" and then the memory will be there. By the way, there is a slot for a GameCube memory card on the Wii, it is behind the place where you insert the GameCube controllers. I don't know WHY it didn't work for Master48... Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't know for sure.

Well, it depends. Yeah, you can save game data and channel data on a SD card for the Wii, but you can't use the SD card for another Wii if you want to use the SD card memory on the other Wii.

By that, I mean if you have a wii (lets call that one wii a and the other wii "wii b"), and you save wii A's memory on that SD card, you can't put that SD card in wii B to use the same memory. Apparently, you can only use it for pictures. I learned this whenever I got a new Wii. My old Wii couldn't recognize my games so I got a new Wii. I saved all my game data and channel data on a SD card. When I copied the data from my SD card to my new Wii, I couldn't use the same data.

Although, you can save Wii Shop games onto a SD card and use it for another Wii.

Hope this helps!
