I wanted to play dvds on my ps2... (the really small one) but i guess it over heated or it broke and i don't have ne other way to watch the movie. Unless you also know the answer to why my ps2 won't play the movie... i had just watched a movie on it like 10 minutes before i tried to watch the second one and it worked perfectly fine... and then i put the new dvd in and it wouldn't spin the disc. I don't get it!

The Nintendo Wii does not play DVDs, but on the plus side, a purpose-built DVD player can be had for as little as $40 at your local megamart if you hunt around. This is $40 more than you would have spent if you played it on something you have now, but if the heavy wear of watching many movies induces a failure in a mechanism, it will be in a cheap DVD player instead of a $300-800 game console.

Actually it does have the capability to play dvds, however you will need the Homebrew channel, with the dvdx and MPlayer apps. Google Wii Homebrew Channel for info on how to download it. With this channel you can also do a lot cool things with your Wii. No bs, check it out!

Well, the wii can't normally read dvds. But if you hack it, it can play dvds.

I think it should.. If the PS2, and older system can, than it should. It probably dosen't because the Japanese weren't thinking when they designed it.. but good luck!
