comcast, I suggest that you ask them which router they recommend/buy it from them if you can. Also tell them what you want to use it for, as they may have suggestions as to how to get the most out of your Wii using their service.

Also look at Wii for their recommendations and advice:

The router will come with a full set of set up instructions and a disc, and online help too.

D-link is one of the most common brands of wireless router, and I got mine up and running in about 30 minutes from the time I got it out of the box.

It is compatible with the Wii. Belkin is not, apparently. (another common brand).

Good luck!

Well you need a Wii. You also need something called a Router. A Router creates a wireless signal (WiFi, Wireless Internet) that you can connect your Wii and other devices. If you have a laptop that is connected to the internet wirelessly then you already have what you need. If you don't have a router and don't want to get one you can buy something called a Wired LAN for the Wii. This is something that plugs into your Wii's USB Port on the back of your Wii. The other end of the cord connects to the back of your router. To connect your Wii to the internet go to the Wii Home Menu, click Wii in the lower left hand corner. Then click settings. Go to the 2nd page and click Internet Connection. Somewhere you will see the Add a Connection button. Click wireless, or Wired LAN, which ever you are going to use. If you click wireless it will search for wireless signals in range. When it finds your connection try to connect to it. It will ask you for a WEP Key or a Security Key. A WEP Key and Security Key are the same thing. To find this look on the bottom of your router. There should be a sticker and you should see WEP and a bunch of letters and numbers next to it. That is the WEP key which your Wii will ask you for. If you are not asked for this and it connects without that means your Wireless network is insecure meaning, you can connect devices to it without needing the WEP key. If you choose to do the Wired LAN there will be an instruction booklet included. I unfortunately cannot walk you through the steps for that because I have never done it before. If you want to use the Wired LAN you can buy one here:

I have comcast and a wireless router and my desktop, laptop, PS3 and Wii are all connected to it via wireless.

Make sure you set up your router with a password and then go into the Wii settings and tell it to use wireless and scan for available networks. It should see your router and ask you for its password. That's all you need to do.

You don't need a fancy router for this. I have had expensive gaming routers and plain, cheap routers, dlink, linksys, netgear, belkin...they all work for these devices. You can get a wireless router for $25-40

Depending on where you live you can also look into buying WiMax and switch from Comcast, that way you don't need a router and you have internet access anywhere the company has coverage (kinda like a cell phone service but much faster...and cheaper).

Not comcast, but I've had it work on att & charter. Get a cheap linksys or belkin wireless router because I know they work. Once you get the router hooked up between your modem & computer, & you know it's working, you can setup the wii. Click on wii options, wii settings & scroll through til you find internet. Change it to wireless & find your access point. Once everything is setup, do a connection test but don't update if you're still on 4.2 or less. Once you're done with setting up the internet, google homebrew.

You generally can get one right from Comcast for free instead of your internet box you may currently have. The better option is to go to like a best buy and buy one that fits your budget and will serve your purposes as far as transmission distance. Best buy is best to buy it from cause geek squad will set up a password for you. Some routers are difficult to set up so it worth the $20 to have them do it. Then just plug it in and go. if your computer is wi-fi compatible all you do it type in the password the same goes for the wii. After you put the password in once its always there unless there is a major technical issue. Also if you have a iphone or droid you can set it to use your wi-fi while in your house. That makes your phones “smart” functions much faster.
