in case you haven't any longer have been given firmware version 3.3 it may artwork. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that the three.3 replace - that could actually come on the Wii in high quality condition disc - has stopped all freeloaders working. This handed off a week or 2 in the past.

It may or may not be able to play a NTSC disc, but a PAL Wii will not be viewable on a NTSC/ATSC television.

To the best of my knowledge, a PAL system can play a NTSC disc. Phase Alternating Line uses a 625 line/ 50Hz format, while NTSC uses a 525 line/ 60 Hz format. Since the North American format uses a smaller frame buffer, it may play the disc, but your system will not be compatible with a North American television. There is also the problem of regional lockout on the system and games. North America is region 1, while the UK is region 2.

The only way you could play your current system in Canada is if you brought a multi-region television that is compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, which might be a bit of a blow to your wallet and will probably need a digital converter box when we switch over completely to digital broadcast. If you wish to play North American games on it, you would need a boot disc or mod chip to unlock the region codes, if they make them for Wii.

This information is only based on my personal knowledge. Do some research so you can come up with a game plan that will be the most cost-effective for you.

OK, so to play NTSC games on a PAL system, You will need to mod your machine, this can be done with a soft-mod, any region changer will do it, you can run this from the homebrew channel.

To load Homebrew channel, you'll need to run the twilight hack, If you don't have it, rent it or borrow it, don't buy it because you're going to need a NTSC version if you want to play it after changing the region.

If you've updated your system in the last 4 months, you will have 3.4E, and so you'll need twilight hack beta 2 version. otherwise use the original version.

You may want to go ahead and get a hardware mod chip though, Get it in the UK though, they're easier to find there, and you can have it done for you rather than having to buy it online and install yourself.

Mod Chipping will enable you to play all your PAL games you may already have as well as NTSC games, (also copies).

You may also need some component cables because while the TV you used might have worked for your Wii, not all will work well.

You can always buy import games, for reference:- Europe, Australia and HongKong all use PAL systems. I would recommend Mod Chipping though.
