I can;t believe a year later I still struggle to find definitive information regarding the compatibility of Guitar Hero and Rock Band games and instruments. I own Guitar Hero 3. I'm looking to buy one of the Band Sets (or at least the drums) and trying to decide between Rock Band 2 kit and the Guitar Hero World Tour set. I hear the GHWT instruments are better--but the game and song library seems better with Rock Band, I'm wondering if the GHWT kit is compatible with the RB track packs and the newer games as well, Conflicting info is everywhere! Anyone know where to find updated, accurate info? Found various sites--now seem updated. What do folks think--which do you recommend currently?

Hey, i have a GREAT chart for you to get the compatibility of each instrument for Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

http://cdn.guitarhero.com/ghhub/GHWT_compatibility.pdf

It is an official, Guitar Hero creators made, guide on what instruments are compatible for Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It has also been updated for the latest games!!!

If I were you, I would get the Guitar Hero Drums because:

1. The drumplay seems much more realistic since it has a more drum feel and look to it.

2. I cannot guarantee that with the cymbal addon for the Rock Band drums that the drums will work for the Guitar Heros (but the cymbal addon does make the drums better then the GH ones)

And yea, so hopefully that helps you make a decision, and if ur stuck on games, just buy one of them, then you can rent the other and see if you also wanna get that game.

To sum it up gh world tour drums work with all guitar hero games that use drums and gh drums work with rock band 2 and beatles rock band on the wii. gh 3 guitar works with all wii guitar hero games and both rock band 2 and beatles rock band but does not work with rock band 1 on the wii. the logitech mics work for both guitar hero and rock band games. I own the guitar hero drums and find you really have to hit them for them to register and works pretty decent with rock band games. One drawback is the gh drums require a wii mote where rock band drums do not use a wii mote but the rock band drums do not work with guitar hero games. My suggestion is both a guitar hero bundle (they are always having deals) and then buy the rock band games that way like i do you get to play both gh and rock band. Also buy a san disk card for when you want to download dlc from each music store and if you want to transfer tracks from gh world tour to gh 5 and same with smash hits I suggest getting at least a 8gb san disk card.
