What is the Wii game "Cookoff Mama" &" Mario Galaxy" abt?

I need to get a couple of Wii games for 2 girls ages 11 & 13 & i just dont know what to get.I've thought abt these two and also the karoke,but we are talking $150.00,another $259.00 for console,add $24.00 for extrea remote,& $22.00 for nonchuck & chaulk up well over $400.00.If these are really worthwhile that would help as an educaional tool as well as have fun too it may not be bad.Are there any games like that for the Wii??

Mario Galaxy is possibly the best made game so far for the Wii. It is a game of the "platformer" type genre. Basically Mario runs a number of different courses, picking up "stars" and other items, while having to avoid or defeat various obstacles along the way until he reaches his goal. It's a lot of fun, but not educational.



Cookoff Mama? Well, you do learn about various international dishes, but it doesn't really teach you how to cook the actual dishes so no, I wouldn't call it an "educational tool either.



About the only 2 educational Wii games I can think of would be "Big Brain Academy" and "My Word Coach". Of the 2, I would say "Big Brain Academy" would be my first choice. It's both educational AND fun! Lightening fast mini-games requiring fast thinking that actually does test and help sharpen your logic, visualization, memorization and other similar type of skills.

Cooking Mama: Cookoff is something like a cooking sim. You are given recipies and told how to make them. There are some control issues, but the game is overall good.



Mario Galaxy is (currently) the best game for the Wii. It is like other Mario games in the past like Super Mario World or the original games on the NES. This is a definate easy buy for the kids.



Before you buy any games though, check out online reviews. I've added a few links to sites to check for reviews. See which games would appeal to your kids and get games which sound like the description they give you and have high ratings.

Super Mario Galaxy, is a 3D Mario style action platformer. You guide Mario through various 3D environments, jumping, dodging, and fighting off some enemies.

EDIT: AS for "info-tainment" games on Wii, all video games are helpful in the sense that they can be used to help hone a child's hand-eye co-ordination.

I have Mario Galaxy....ITS ABSOLUTLY GREAT!

It can be difficult to get some stars but it is the #1 Wii game of all time (so far). Also try Mario cart racing when it comes out this spring!
