If you mean, "Hacking your Wii", as installing the HomeBrew Channel, then yes, it's fully safe.

But if you mean, "Hacking your Wii", as installing a custom IOS and changing the Trucha Bug to IOS36 and stuff, then no, unless you have BootMii as boot2 installed and have a backed-up NAND.bin file.

----------

Also, never update your Wii because these updates are just tactics to prevent Wii consoles from being hacked.

Even though there are ways to hack your Wii in the 4.2 update, you'll need BootMii as boot2. Because if you have 4.2, BootMii only as an IOS will be useless.

Putting the Homebrew Channel on your Wii is almost always safe. Just don't use the Nintendo Channel or update your Wii with the Homebrew Channel on it because Nintendo will brick it.

No.

Here's the way I see it...if you're even asking, it means you're not 100% sure about what exactly you have to do to hack the console. And if you don't know exactly what you're doing, there's a very good chance that you'll click one wrong button, or copy one wrong file, and brick your console.

I've had mine hacked for almost 2 years now. I've had no problems with it.
